Wireless Phone Charging Pad

Doesn’t seem like wireless charging with iPhone keeps up with gps/Bluetooth running.

I only do corded charging at home so wireless charging is new to me.

Am I doing something wrong? Newer Otterbox case, phone indicates it’s charging, gets pretty warm…

Ford uses the Qi standard, and for iPhones + Qi, you only get 7.5W charging power. For reference, their MagSafe wireless charging pads are able to charge at 15W and their power blocks for wired charging are either 5W or 20W. Only question now is how much power does it take your iPhone to run GPS & BT?

I stopped using the wireless charging on mine....constantly have to re-adjust the position to charge.

Funny that MagSafe was mentioned- I bought that battery for my wife and she didn’t think it worked fast enough to be useful.

Corded charging it is!

Same with Android Auto. Phone uses more charge than wireless charging replaces. I am wondering if it is even worth it to use since my phone gets hot as heck when using the wireless pad.

Yes, it's a nice feature and will help mitigate battery drain while traveling, but the biggest issue I found is that whipping around turns (which I love to do now without the leaf springs!) really slings it off of the charger. I might add some weather stripping I have left over from sealing my tailgate gap to act as a bumper to keep it in the most effective position.

I have an app ony Samsung Note 20 Ultra called "Ampere" that shows me the discharge rate when not charging and the charge rate when charging. Discharge while using Android Auto and whatever else I had going was around -450. Running the same apps and Android Auto on the wireless charger shows a +225 or so. So it's charging, but slowly. Should work fine for long drives, might need a cord for short drives with a low battery.

Interesting. The phone gets super hot as well though. That can't be good.

Quit using mine since it just doesn’t work consistently with my iPhone 12 Pro Max. Disconnects every 10 seconds and pops up that stupid message telling me, that covers everything else on the screen. Doesn’t matter how I drive or position the phone. I bought a new case thinking that was the problem and it still happens. Honestly, wish I didn’t have it.
