A few weeks back I did some donuts in a parking lot with a fresh layer of snow on it. I was in 4A with the traction and advanced trac turned off. Mid donut the dashboard started beeping at me and told me to Service advance trac, hill decent fault, and traction control fault. I parked the truck and when I got back in a few hours later everything was fine and there were no errors on the dash.

I did donuts last week and had no issues.

This morning I did them again and the same errors came up. I’m not a mechanic but I wouldn’t guess these errors were normal.

Has anyone else had a similar issue?

You’re probably just getting snow packed in a wheel speed sensor or something. Losing a signal until the snow melts

Old threads are like old jeans. They are comfortable and I like putting them on.
4wd high yields very satisfying power drifts.

I had the very same thing happen to me in my 2020. It happened just now! I restarted the truck and it was fine. I was in a full on cyclone when the dash lit up. 4A donuts are the best by far, there is nothing like a 50 Yard power slide loops around the parking lot. 4H with the rear locked makes the truck push to much. 4A will eventually force 4H during donuts. There is something that heats up and causes the switch. I am going to wait and see if there is any long lasting issues but my guess is it will be just fine.

You’re basically inducing a plausibility fault in the stability control system. It monitors wheels speeds, steering angle, latitudinal/longitudinal acceleration, and Yaw rate. When the rationale of those signals conflict with each other (doing donuts, 2-wheel dyno, etc) the system will become disabled. It will re-enable on the next key cycle.

I’m pretty sure you should be in fully locked in 4H when doing that kinda stuff, imagine what kinda wear/force is going on as you slide full
Pitch wheel locked opposite direction & the inside front hub momentarily goes from engaged to disengaged back to engaged again….& fo sho that’s happening over & over again as you mess around in 4a- hence why the truck saves itself & forces 4h

Use your noggin

The IWEs remain locked at all times in either 4WD mode. However, under enough abuse, the transfer case clutch temperature can become elevated enough that it will default to 4H to allow the clutch to cool.
