Is there any chance that the type of washer fluid you are using is causing it. I just started noticing it too after I added rain-x fluid to my washer fluid. Wondering if it’s a residual of rain-x on mine??

I had a very similar situation.
I thought clay would help, but as you noted, it did not.
What did the trick was glass polishing compound on a mini DA with a cutting pad.
I first tried it by hand, but that did not work.
Gotta use the machine.
