We will see an electric motor sooner than later but that is a whole new topic. Steve C

It will be entertaining to see the V8 crowd lose their shit when Ford announces the only engine option in the G3 is a 4 cylinder hybrid.

I’m not hating on the ecoboost. I’m all for it. I’m sure eventually it will be as reliable as the 5.0

I’d like to see the statistics breakdown for this. of course, it largely depends on what you’re pointing to for “reliability”. Someone’s cruise control not working or transmission not filled isn’t a knock on the engine platform.

When the modular was phased in to replace the Windsor, it wasn’t as good. Eventually, it became the fleet standard, and became a pretty solid performer. Now the ecoboost is overtaking the v8’s. I don’t think statistically it’s within evidence that the 2.7/3.5 is less reliable as an engine platform. Ford has been cranking them out by the assembly line, then modifying, then improving and if anything they’re moving more in that direction.

Of course, all of this is meaningless if you’re MGD (really sasquatch77) , or an MGD disciple. in that case, evidence is meaningless to you and who cares?

You heard it here first, from 2xA ron. 2019.5

LOL, all good points, also, if you all think engine decisions is all about reliability, you are wrong, I have a 1962 Briggs and Straton 2 stroke that has 27,000 HOURS on it (roughly 1,200,000 miles in car years) and that sucker has never had an issue. Good non-oxygenated gas, fresh plug every 2-3 years, runs like a top. Maybe we should go back to two strokes if the MGD wankers think it is only about reliability.
