OK- here's my point since you guys are struggling with it.

Just because it's "newer and better in all ways" doesn't at all mean it'll hold it's value any better than the previous model. It may be worth more in actual dollars when sold, but you spent more up front to buy it.

Not saying one will hold its value better than the other, just that a 2017 will have a higher selling price than a 2014 with similar miles/yr. As the 2017 falls, so will the 2014.

I disagree with that, but we will see. These 13/14 trucks are doing well compared to their MSRP. We should know in 2020 if these 17/18's drop by larger %.

As more and more of the 3.5TT are produced, the superiority of the ecoboost will shine through.

I plan on keeping my 2011 6.2L GEN1 until they force me to surrender my driver's license.

THIS GEN2 OWNER'S TALE IS MIGHTY INTERESTING:

Yeah, it’s interesting alright, but check out that user’s post history, and specifically as it relates to what was done to the truck before it started acting up.

Besides, user formerly known as sasquatch77 tried to start some $hit show thread about why so many 2017’s for sale before, but then when you looked at the 2012+ - 2014 the number dwarfed the 2017’s and the sale prices were much, much lower.

Gen 1 is still a great truck! Stupid pricing by greedy stealers artificially spiked the market for the 2017 and maybe some early 2018’s and the “minus 1” generation benefitted from that. With Ford cranking out the new 2018’s earlier there should be more 2018 Raptors than any prior year and if the market continues to demand them, Ford has a solid seller on their hands.

Gen 2’s have a lot of the new bells and whistles that don’t necessarily make it a better off roader, but maybe make it a better overall vehicle to live with day to day --to some people--. Still, some previous posters have pointed out the Gen1 is a superior SBUX drive thru crawler. Apparently the previous gen cooled seats work better. I don’t know. mine work just fine, but I don’t live where the elite get to drive thru to get SBUX, ours are old school, got to park and go inside. That’s for peasants, so I send in my corner crew to fetch my mocha. Just sayin’

I just laugh at the Gen1 guys predicting how far the used prices will drop on the Gen2's

Because wherever the Gen2 prices fall to.... the Gen1 prices will always be $10-20K lower

Who only puts 20k miles on in 14 years???

Stupid example above.

Actually more common on these vehicles. A lot of folks who have these are not daily drivers and spend more time in the garage. Some only take it out during the summer and not on any day that rains.

I purchased a used 08 GT500 Convertible for $27k with 40k miles over a year ago. It spends most of the time in the garage. We only use it when one of our other vehicles might be in the shop or there is a nice weekend to go on a cruise. Looking around, its still worth the $27k I paid. Now granted the sticker was left in the glove box and it was at $51k back then. I see the same year with less than 10k miles and a few less than 5k miles for sale.

We shall see about that. You might be angered to see the opposite happen

Hey ******* Sasquatch. Why would I be angered? I wrote a personal check for the full amount of my truck. Unlike for you, any drop in value is relatively meaningless to me.

And again sorry to inform you... but any drop in gen2 prices will also drop your gen1

The gen2 will always be worth more. Just like the gen3 will be worth more than the gen2.

If you are buying a raptor as a "garage" car then you got issues. I will put 20k miles on mine in about a year.
