Akaie15 already answered the question, but to confirm I bought the truck at Dean Sellers Ford in Troy, Mi.

So let's start first impressions. I had previously seen a few in person at car shows and a manufacturers cars running around Detroit, but this thing really is a beast in person. They parked it next to an escape and it completely dwarfed it. It truly looks awesome from the outside.

The drive. The truck had 7.5 miles on it when I got it and strangely 2 engine hrs? I reset the trip computer and drove tonight to an indicated 66 or so miles. MPG for the trip on mixed roads was 17.4 mpg. About 70 percent of my driving was in normal mode, 20 in weather mode and 10 in sport.

Transmission: So in normal mode the truck is definitely trying to get to the highest gear as soon as possible. On most starts from a red light it would skip 2nd and 4th gear and be in 10th by the time I hit 40. Overall it shifted smoothly but you could feel it on occasion hunt around a bit for a gear when you were changing speed. I was being overly sensitive to it, but you could feel some shifts (mostly lower gears) and can actually feel it down shift at times (once again mostly in the lower gears). That said the shifts in reality felt better than most if not all automatics I have driven. The only weird sensation that stuck with me was the 1 to 3 shift which causes a brief hesitation in acceleration. This only happened in Normal mode when I was accelerating fairly easily, if you were a little more aggressive with the gas or in Sport mode it would use 2nd. I did feel what i thought were two "hard" shifts from 1st to 2nd in sport mode, but after thinking about it I believe i just got a bit of wheel spin (with TC intervention) as the roads were wet with patches of snow. I didn't have much time in Sport but it definitely held lower gears (6th at 40 vice 10th) and shifted more aggressively.

Suspension: So I was only out for a short while but the truck was a bit stiffer than expected. Not a bad thing at all, but I assume like a track set up on a car, the faster you go the better it works. For some reason they set the air pressure in the tires a bit high (44 psi vice the recommended 38) so that may have influenced the ride a bit, but overall I was very satisfied with the ride/handling and glad it is not too soft in day to day driving. As stated in reviews the truck tracks straight and handles corners well for such a large vehicle. I did hit some washboard type ruts on a dirt road and got a bit of chatter and rear axle hop but it handled it well and recovered quickly (with a bit of oppo).

Overall I am really happy and can't wait to drive it a bit harder once it is broken in and get a chance to thrash it off road. My only real complaint is mostly my fault. As I ordered in July before there was much details (and not being that familiar with Ford products) I assumed the 801 A package with SYNC 3 and larger screen included some type of navigation. I saw the "voice activated" navigation option but thought this just added "voice" to the navigation that was already included. Once again my mistake and Apple carplay works fine so i can get navigation that way, but if I knew it didn't come with a stand alone (which is surprising for a 50K truck) I would have added that $795 option.

Anyways I am tired and need to go to sleep now. I will try and add more after some more seat time.

Nice write up, congrats on your delivery. You opted for the supercab right? Add a signature so we know what you have.

I have two vehicles with similar type transmissions. In one of them I experience the same 'shifting too fast' when being driven easily, and it feels like the engine is lugging, all in the name of mpg. It's perfect when I am on the track, or higher speed highway cruising.I have resigned to driving that car around town in manual mode using the paddles so rpms can be what I feel are more normal...and am thinking the raptor may be the same. Hopefully there is an easy way to force the trans to manual. My other vehicle has the porsche pdk trans and in normal mode it is acceptable, and never hunts for a gear/has weird shifts...def the best auto trans I've ever used, hoping the raptor's is half as good.

I think normal mode will always prioritize MPG over performance, even if they fix the gear hunting issue.

I'm curious what the MPG difference will be driving around town in sport vs normal.

I think you're 100% correct re normal mode...it's the way of the future to claim higher mpg. I suppose the manufacturers don't care if we have more detonation due to lugging or any other probs..we'll buy trucks sooner or get them more repair business perhaps. Maybe they're fine and won't cause any additional problems - but for anyone who's owned a manual transmission vehicle...imagine being in a high gear like 5th or 6th and doing 30mph...it just doesn't feel right.. same thing with these.
