Okay, I've read this whole thread. I have questions:
- Why would a Mustang owner even think to participate so aggressively on a truck forum?
- What the hell is a "foamer?" (Y'all talk funny, ya hear?)
- Why would anyone make the claim that GEN1 owners "hate" GEN2 owners that they've never met nor will ever meet?

Now to the alleged controversy - if there is one: It is impossible to ignore the litany of difficulties that GEN2 owners are having with their new trucks. There are posts about oil leaks (apparently the engine factory had a hard time installing oil pans properly), transmission problems, rough idle, starting problems, etc. Impossible to ignore, and I don't recall anything even remotely similar when the GEN1s were first available. Maybe that's what GEN1 owners are reacting to. I bet it is. It isn't "hatred" for the owners of the new trucks, it's "what the hell happened to the Raptors?" because anything that discolors the Raptor marque affects every Raptor's resale value.

GEN1 owners, try to be helpful. You may very well have first hand information from your own experience that can be helpful to the GEN2 guys. That's the kind of thing that has made FRF great, and I do mean great. This forum is an encyclopedia on Raptors - better and more in depth than any owner's manual or repair manual could hope to be. Keep it great. Be helpful. Be sympathetic if you must, but be helpful!

It seems like lot of guys are defending their purchases and are a little over sensitive and unfamiliar with the way FRF works (ie: shit talking as a hobby). So they think we hate them. In reality a lot of it is reaction to the 'foamer' mentality that Jenny is a gift from God himself and that the Gen1 Raptor is now a giant hunk of shit and how dare G1 guys not bow down to the new Raptor-messiah.

Asnwered your original three in your quote. See the foamer question for why there's a bit of animosity running through the forums. Add to this a barrage of trivial questions being asked daily "New threads" is usually on the order of 20 pages to wade through and it gets frustrating. That's a pretty normal forum thing where the old guard is always saying "use the ******* search function".

There's a wealth of info here and no shortage of owners who want to help guys who actually want to be part of the community and not 'foamers'. Post a legitimate question and you'll get knowledgeable answers, and some smartass comments. That's part of the flavor here as you know Ruger. Just putting it out there for the guys that may not.

You guys ready? Ok here we go...and here's the deal. I do enjoy this board. I enjoy some of the banter and the loose way it's moderated. It's why I don't post on FR2. That place is boring. However, FRF allows some of the Gen I guys to post up in this section and absolutely wreck the place with their posts berating the Gen II. For some of the guys the hate runs deep for the Gen II, for others they're just talking shit which is totally fine with me. Sometimes deciphering intention is difficult though.

When somebody who owns a Gen I posts in this section ******' and moanin' about the new one, discounting the engine, the aluminum and anything and everything else including the owners or potential owners...foamers etc; what do you think the response is going to be? I will (and so many others) throw it right back at ya by doing the exact same thing. Some of you think that you're entitled to beat down on the new guys because they haven't been here as long, haven't earned their stripes, don't subscribe to what Gen I guys like, the V8 and all that other horseshit. I don't and will never subscribe to that sentiment. Its an internet board for chrissakes. Some of you think FRF requires initiation similar to the Mongols lol.

Progress can sometimes **** people off when it doesn't go the way they had hoped. Sure I wish the Gen II had a V8 too, but it doesn't. So freakin' what, it's a bad ass truck. I'd argue that most who's hearts are filled with seething hatred for the Gen II have no experience in either riding in one or driving one. I suppose hearing the exhaust tone on a youtube clip is enough to make a decision that it's not for them. But to post in the section dedicated to the Gen II all the time about how much they hate it and possibly the owners....I don't know it just seems really odd to me....
