Brought it in yesterday and they have no idea what it is nor have they seen anything like it.This stuff is almost wax like with no smell. They pressure tested the system and it's all good,so they cleaned it all up ( I hope ) and flushed the system. They are certain it's not motor oil or trans fluid. So $200 later I still have no answer .I'll have to monitor this to see if it comes back but it looks like a one time event so far. I hope it's not sabotage .

My guess would be an algae of some kind. The ethyl glycol in the antifreeze coolant should take care of any algae growth but I don't know. 2010 with 22k on it that is a long time with no driving. How often are you adding changing coolant? Is this a slime(slick/slippery) or is it more like a calcium(crusty/hard) build up?

It's a daily driver but I have a 8 minute commute. The coolant is/was original.The slime is slick/slippery.

Looks like your standard oil and coolant mixture to me.

OK I know my truck has this as well and I noticed in my security camera the mechanic cleaning the sides of the reservoir while he was doing a trans flush.
I figured it was just maybe the coolant had bubbled and left a residue on the sides.
No?

What does the inside of your radiator look like?

Hey,pirate. Did you have this in your overflow tank as well ? Mine seems a bit different, as in the coolant was clean. Was that pic taken when hot / warm ? My pics were taken when it was cold as in over night below 0'c or 25'F.

Picture was taken when it was cool, about 70 degrees. I also caught mine early so it really didnt get a chance to build up in the over flow container. I flushed my coolant several times after it mixed and if I flushed it today I bet i would still see a little left over gunk.
