it would have looked cool to paint the emblem black first, then fill it in white

I definitely don't like emblems all black or all white, no contrast looks cheap. No offense, just not my taste/opinion.

But I do agree, if the outside of the emblem was black with the inside white it'd be more consistent and match better...all the gray is throwing it off. Since my tailgate bezel is gray, oval is black with white lettering........ What I should do is make an overlay that would go on the gray face part of the emblems and then everything would match properly... Any thoughts?

It looks great IMO. I agree that making the outers black would provide better contrast and improve the look. I'm not a fan of the all white or black options.

I already have it setup in the vinyl cutter, I'll see if it has an option to add a 1/4" (or whatever size) border to cutout and scale it up a bit so it fits nicely. We shall see, but I think that is really the reason it doesn't look right.

Looking at it again, it is not so bad. Maybe it grows on you. Who cares, rock it for a while be different and when you get sick of it, peel em off. No harm, no foul.

I started to mess with the outline portion yesterday, but quickly realized it's going to be time consuming modifying the scans to make an outline, least using Silhouette program and I need to start boxing apartment up. After I get moved in, I'll likely sit down and look at this again.

Design 'n' Signs should get in on this, they could offer some inlays to purchase and I'm sure can create the black outline in matter of minutes. They may also be able to offer a closer color match to our trucks, especially white.
