So I'm looking to buy one of these. Couldn't find any BF sales on one. My buddy got pulled over by a BLM ranger the other day. New law requirement on BLM land is you must carry a shovel, two lb fire extinguisher and a gallon of water. Hoping the Krazy beaver shovel at 40" might fit behind the back seats in my Screw.

Was he being a ****? It's hard to imagine getting pulled over for a shovel check ...

No, he is a mellow, cool guy. Also, former Search and Rescue and Douglas County Sheriffs office volunteer guy. That S&R jacket buys a lot of milage. lol. This was in the Pine Nuts, East of Gardnerville. BLM has been taking an interest in there lately. Said the BLM ranger was real nice. He didn't really care for his little folding shovel but said the way the law was wrote, it doesn't specify how big the shovel has to be. Really sounds like just a thing to put out your own wildfires before they get out of control. There has been a lot of fires in that area the last 5 or 6 years. Lot of water erosion because of them. I don't even ride my dirt bike in there any more cause the trails are all rocky and water rutted now.

He'd probably really hate my little orange plastic trowel. Seriously, I just carry a good old hickory-handled Craftsman full sized shovel. It's good for leaning on when you talk to government employees. Makes them feel like you're one of the gang. :) I do also take a folding GI shovel which I hope never to need.

That thing looks like something a wildfire fighter would dig a firebreak with. I wouldn't keep it in the cab. One false move and a good deal of damage would result.
