What Programmer / Tune / Tuner??

I would probably venture to say that it is highly unlikely that a tune caused the problem in probably nearly all cases and a dealer pulling that card is a giant **** with very little integrity.

Maybe Mike can clear this up for us.

When I had a superchips in my 04 and went in for inspection they could not read my computer and knew I had a tune in. It took a couple days after returning it to stock for the module's to reset so they could read it, at least thats what they told me.

Now Ive read stuff about these new tunes and the dealership not being able to detect it.

Mike, is there any truth to that ? Should we worry about returning it to stock everytime we go to the dealership?

John, to help you with your question, I do know that if you have a tune and you go to the dealer for warranty work they would have to prove that the tune was at fault for your problem. I can also tell you that the 5star tune made my truck much more enjoyable to drive. Better acceleration, throttle response and firmer shifts.

What did that tune cost you in total? It voiding my warranty is really the only thing stopping me from doing it to the truck. Also Ducati do you notice you're gas milage drop?

Nothing voids your warranty indefinitely! If an aftermarket part causes a failure and your servicing dealer discovers that the part caused the failure then they may deny your warranty claim. That's it. Then life goes on ... if you have a warranty claim the following week for something unrelated ... your warranty is intact and you're covered.

Like bird said. We have been over it a while back, I cant find the thread but there is actually a law about dealers having to prove a warranty claim was the direct fault of the mod.


You can call mike from 5star, he will give you a exact price but its around $400. If your really concerned about the warranty just reinstall the stock tune a few days before bringing it to them.

As far as gas mileage I cant really say because mine has dropped because of idle time in my driveway and spinning the tires in the snow. Its definitely one of the best improvements you can buy for inexpensive HP, not that you 6.2 guys need it but for the 5.4 it made it feel like a whole new truck. To maximize the benefits of a tune you also want a CAI and exhaust.
