I had Deavers put on and could hear this “clunking” when going slow over bumps that sounded like it was coming from the box, but I chased it down to this and it appears loose.

I have no idea what it is or it’s purpose. See photo...

Still trying to solve this and wondering if anyone else has any insight. It was not the mass damper as I thought/hoping. I sprayed it real well and it's quiet. I believe it's the driver's rear shock (I did shock exchange) same time I added Deaver's. When I removed the shock I could not reproduce the "clunk", which tells me it's not the Deaver's. It's easily reproducible by slightly pushing up and down on the rear of the truck.

I only hear it going slow over bumps or hitting large cracks in the road as slow speeds. As stated previously, I pulled the shock and then retorqued the bolts to 75 ft/lbs when putting back on. Of course the sound came back immediately. I pulled the shock guard and it made no difference either.

Thoughts?
