I humbly and respectfully disagree. To my non engineering eye that locking pin and exposed spring of the 2017-2019 phaser looks like a 1890’s steam punk design and that locking pin is a shit design too. Theres a reason 2021 and up 3.5’s have no issues. To me this is a cut and dry case of a ****** part. It costs zero dollars to demand the MLz phaser .
You’re not analyzing a part from a YouTube video, especially from an “engineering” perspective
I don’t know how many times I need to reiterate this before people stop coming up with their own “theories” that don’t align with the facts. Especially when your video claims they’ll “put back in the old part” that hasn’t been available for half a decade now.
The revised part (HL3Z-CD) still had the same exterior appearance, because that was never part of the issue. The issue was cutoff on 11/30/19, not in “2021”. The same phaser supplier/design has been used on 2.7/3.0 since 2015 and did not have issues.
If you actually compared the HL3Z-CD and ML3Z-A, you’d see that the spring is no different. It just has a thin piece of metal covering it from the front, which was due to the supplier change.
