The ******* problem is that... Its an Audi by stamp/VIN/badging, but its a Lambo by cost and maintenance and underlying parts :(

I was given a lovely looking r8 but a maintenance scare. When I received her, it was leaking oil from the oil pump shaft seal, needed intake solenoids and flaps and sensors and shortly after all that was taken care of, the RTRONIC pump went.

While those things were taken care of, I did some pre-maintenance work also.

I've spent 9k on maintenance in a year, but its got 70k and the typical engine is only good for about 120k. I do believe the v10 will break before the v8 will.

interesting, thats exactly what i wanted to know. thats always been a future dream car to own at some point and was hoping it would be the other way around. Good luck with it and thanks for the heads up.

It’s mainly the perspective... I think they’re pretty close in size

I was wondering that after I posted. It's amazing how much these iPhone fisheye lenses alter reality in close shots. The Raptor looks bigger in this one.

120K!? Audi motors will last forever if they're properly maintained. They make very reliable motors especially when taken care of. I've seen multiple guys on Audi forums with R8's as far as 180k with no problems!

in my experience audi has always been the most unreliable out of the big 3 german autos. cant speak on the r8 but more the typical audi (a4,5,6,7)

The wife’s 20 model Denali XL. Currently looking for some bolt-on performance mods after deciding the Lingenfelter/Hennessey packages are too much of an extravagance...

Maybe w/ the V8 engine, that V10 is a Lamborghini motor no?

My mom is on her 2nd A4 (actually an S4) it’s a 2017 she has 78k on it not one problem, she had a 2013 A4 w/ 145k on it she traded on it also gave her zero trouble.

The 4.2L V8 is the same motor as the 5.2L V10. Same internals just two less cylinders. The ones that came in the RS5's were anyway. VW owns Audi and Lambo. But thats good to hear!
