I bought the muffler for $70 and had it installed for $60. So for $130 I completely changed the sound and presence of my truck. Now I didn't run the pipe back behind the rear tire I just had it dumped right after the magnapack. So you can expect a few more $ to run the pipe back
Aesthetically only issue with this is that the factory exhaust tips are butt ugly for a truck of this price range. And sharp. I've cut my hand on them once when washing the truck. It's really not asking too much for Ford to have at least given the factory "brushed" stainless tips a rolled lip instead of a sharp edge.
Thanks so much for this info...super helpful! Checked out the link to ebay quickly; that looks great, too. What kind of tools are we talking about for the install? I'd love to be able to do it myself.
Basic hand tools are all that should be required. Socket wrench set, a few extensions, floor jack to lift the rear and provide clearance over the axle to remove the factory exhaust without cutting it apart, etc. A hammer or deadblow mallet (I used the latter) might come in handy as well when you remove the factory exhaust tips from the factory tailpipes. Penetrating oil like PB Blaster is a good thing to have around as well.
Like I said, I had to shorten the bayonet hanger on my Magnaflow kit's tailpipe section by grinding it down with an angle grinder. I still think that this was a fluke of manufacturing tolerances being out of spec for my particular unit, but who knows.
I did not have the luxury of dedicating a morning to my install so I worked on it in between doing other things while on-call for my job. If I could have devoted myself to the project, I could have removed and installed everything in about an hour, hour and a half at a slow pace. Doing it again I could easily complete the work in an hour.
