My 2018 went in for cam phasers today. The noise at cold start began about 2 weeks ago. Last friday, it was knocking at any speed unless it was under load. I was about 150 miles from home when it got really bad. Wasn't sure if I was going to make it back or not. My mechanic didn't seem too worried. But we'll see in a day or so when he opens her up. Ran fine.... but sounded real unhappy.

***EDIT - I should add that records showed they were last replaced in 2020, before I bought the truck.
Interesting timing, my 2020 just started doin this too, fun.
Odd cause im pretty sure this truck was build when they released the new parts and it had the latest revisions.
Change oil every 2500 as well, oh well im still under warranty at least.

Oh boy did I just almost fück up. Had the Access Port resting on my steering wheel and bumped the cord with my knee and dropped the damn thing. It came unplugged but luckily it was just saving the factory TCM data. Not really sure what would have happened if it was loading the TCM tune on there while it came unplugged.

Back in the day I did the same thing changing tunes on my Roush Mustang. I got out of the car while it was writing the tune, my foot grabbed the cord and pulled the cord out of the OB2 port. It locked the handheld Diablo Predator. I needed a pattern code to reset it. Thankfully Diablo support helped me out with the pattern to unlock the device while also making fun of me. Needless to say, I keep my ass in that seat now until it's completely finished.

I plugged it back in and started over with saving the factory TCM Tune and then installed the Goose Tune TCM tune on it. Once it was complete I turned the truck off for 15 seconds, started it and put it in gear and it didn't move. I had to turn the truck off and ignition back on and just rewrite the tune on there and everything is good. It has done that to me once before too when I went to go to work in the morning. Put it in gear and nothing. I just reinstalled the TCM tune and everything was fine. I should probably update my Access Port, I haven't done that in a while.

Tech has come along ways since the early 2000's. It would take 20mins to write a new tune. Now I'm inpatient that it take 2mins in my STi with the COBB. lol

Glad it was a easy fix and nothing bad permanently happened. I'm wanting to get the TCM tune so bad in my truck. The Trans shifting logic/skip gears is the only thing I hate about the truck. My truck is tuned with the SCT but no TCM programming support, or updates to do it.

I've tried researching turning the shifting logic off with forscan. It's 50/50. People say it's way better and shifts like it should and some say it will burn the Trans up? And no tuner is going tell you what they do to turn off the skip shifting, or if they turn the logic off or if it's a setting that's doable in Forscan.

Picked it back up from the dealer. I went in complaining about the shifting and loose feeling suspension. Took a month but my 3rd party warranty covered a new transmission, all 4 shocks, upper control arms, and sway bar endlinks. The transmission is significantly better. I just assumed based on everyone's complaints about the 10r80 the issues I was complaining about were normal, but it's night and day. And I haven't even reinstalled my Goosetuned TCM tune. Obviously new shocks feel great too and the floaty loose feeling is no more. I took it to South Bay Ford in Los Angeles and they went back and forth with the 3rd party warranty to get everything covered. I paid my $300 deductible and the warranty took care of the $19k bill.
