My truck also had the driver side valve cover crack. I used some black epoxy and fixed it a couple weeks ago. Checked it again today and it's still dry and no more burning oil smell when it puddles up and drips, plus it's hidden under the engine cover.

I was going to have Ford fix it under warranty but there's no updated valve covers so the new one will crack at some point also.
That F U Ck er cracks again i might loose my shit.
I don't run the engine cover, for me it is a big insulation blanket holding heat in the engine. but I don't show my engine bay off, so epoxy wouldn't bother me if it fixed the issue.

On a side note, mine is still under powertrain warranty. but I didn't want one of their gorilla's touching it.
Since I do about 15k a month in business with local dealer they gave me the parts to replace myself under warranty (they did not give me nor did they claim any labor).
The exact reason I didn't take mine in for a warranty repair. Cost me $9 and 15 mins of my time to fix it myself.

Interesting reason not to run a cover, you think it holds in that much heat? Any data to show removing it makes any difference?

Same. My first mod was removing that POS engine cover. Thankfully my valve cover hasn't cracked yet.

I'm not a idiot. I understand what it does and the reason it comes on the vehicle. I'm asking for real world benefits and data to why removing the cover is beneficial in any way.

There's seems to be nothing to support the reasons people remove the covers other than it makes people feel better because they believe it traps significant amounts heat. So does the hood, why don't people remove that also if that's the train of thought. I guarantee you with the cover in place its still running cooler than bolting a Whipple on top of your engine.

I'll end my request for real world data with it makes people feel good and perhaps makes it a tad easier to not take the 2mins to remove it if you need to work on something under it.

It is a big piece of foam. I just don't need it and it is one less thing to take off if needed on the trail or in the shop. I didn't throw it away, it is in my garage.

If you like it run it. swap your running boards around also. I don't care.

Again, no one looks under the hood but me, I am not entering any car shows with it.
