Took the Raptor on a little camping trip to Brazos Bend State Park this past weekend. Always a fun park and they have some good trails to hike with a lot of wildlife. Usually these beasts are a little further away. But on this particular morning they decided to sun on the bank right next to the trail. A little unnerving to walk past these beasts, while they are looking right at you...........
Zero exterior protection, other than weekly washes and monthly wax This started out as a new company vehicle, I really had no intentions of keeping it past the 3 year lease, but decided to buy out the lease from the company and move on to a different company vehicle and use this one as a kid and dog hauler. Not so much as a squeak or rattle, drives better than new as it’s broken in. Big believer of certain Toyota models, the sequoia is holding its value too.

That is a regular site in most bodies of water in Florida. There definitely are plentiful anymore where temperatures are generally warm.Took the Raptor on a little camping trip to Brazos Bend State Park this past weekend. And here is a shot of them that shows just how close to the trail they were. My wife kept asking me to back up, back up.......... You can imagine what my response to that was!!!

What type of dog? I can see small dogs looking very appetizing to the gators. There are signs all over saying to keep your pets on the trails. I'm sure a few dogs that get too close to them can get snapped up pretty easily. We have an Australian Sheperd that is almost 15 years old. He can't make these camping trips anymore.Took the dog there a couple years back and was expecting there to be at least a little bit of tension between alligator and dog. Nothing. My dog didn't even seem to realize that alligators were there, and the alligators didn't seem to care. I somewhat expect the alligators to be indifferent and used to pets in the park. However, my dog will go nuts over a bird flying within 300 feet of his yard, but not acknowledge an alligator 15 feet away?
Gators are very quick. People and animals underestimate their speed on land for short distances. There are numerous dogs and people here who have encounters with gators with bad results. What type of dog? I can see small dogs looking very appetizing to the gators. Thank you for the advise, I’ll have to pick up some aluminum wrenches, i did not know that. I’m not very mechanically incline as this was a stretch for me to install.Wow this looks pretty high tech and high quality. Nice components.
Normally when you use aluminum wrenches, you won’t scratch off the anodizing on the fittings. Surprised it was marking.
Agreed! Several years ago we had the same situation with large gators sunning on the bank like these two. Back then we had the kids with us and fortunately we were riding bicycles. We walked our bikes past the gators and made sure to keep the bikes between us and them. That way we could toss the bike and run like hell. This time it was just me and the wife with no bicycles. So we made sure to give them a wide berth. If they made a move, there was no bike to toss........... but I knew I only had to be quicker than my wife...........Gators are very quick. Living in florida all of my life, and growing up hunting and fishing you learn to be very respectful of them. They also can move very stealthy. They are a predatory animal in the water and on land.
