This is to deter someone from stealing my entire tailgate, similar to jimmi jammer gate keeper. Would take time rather than 5 seconds. But ya, if someone steals my truck on a flat bed, I have insurance.
He’s saying the truck has to be unlocked to open the tailgate. If your trucks locked, they’d have to break into the truck to open the tailgate before that device would even come into preventing them from removing the tailgate.

thx for the clarification. they wouldn't even know its there until something is damaged in the first place.

Correct, deter them once they see it. Similar to having a console lock or a kill switch/ravelco. Or if you don't/forget to lock your truck in some cases. But if someone wants something bad, they will get it. Just like everything else. You definitely need a thief first for any of your security measures to come in play.

Check out some of the theft threads on here to give you more insight.

had something fly up and got my windshield on the road. talk about getting the shit scared out of you. but lucky that was all it was beside a small scuff on the bumper where it hit first. damn $750 to replace. thank goodness I have a $100 glass deductible.

On a good note I did go to the dealer and all of the
ssm's they looked up and verified or at least know about but one they couldn't find.

SSM #50167 onboard generator excessive fan noise. (Yes a fix)
SSM #50337 rear window rattle with load base with radio. (No couldn't find in the system). but I have the print out to bring with me and they can make sure its fixed.
SSM #50963 exhaust rattle. (still no fix). but its in the system.
SSM #50972 clunking (Yes a fix)
Air intake tsb #2198. (yes a fix) they said they have a fix

3 out of 5 for now will make me happy

Sorry to hear about, and to see, the damage, but I'm glad it didn't penetrate into the cab. Sounds like you're taking it in stride. Good luck with the repairs!
