Been thinking lately, I carry a Jack, boards, a bunch of tools, but no spare parts. What are some things to keep in the box for a gen 2? Tie rod ends, control arms?

Tie rods would be smart.

A few years back I watched a Gen 2 tie rod fail. Luckily, we had the leader of the group(RIP) pull out the truck to a hard pack road where a tow truck could get the truck.

If on aftermarket wheels, but stock spare, I would bring 6 lugs meant for the OEM tire. Sure, the thinner ones could work but I rather be safe for contact points.
I also have a spare IWE CV too.

What is the weak link of a control arm? Never seen one fail, but then again I'm not in the ideal location for these trucks offroad.

I had a High Pressure Fuel Pump break on a Baja Trip. A bolt broke and the mount ended up cracking in half. Basically put my truck out of commission (limp mode) for the duration of the trip. A fluke incident, but after doing some research, I found that the same issue happened to others. I think I found that Ford issued an updated part with a stronger mount. Anyhow, I ended up buying a spare one with bolts and carry it on trips now. More for piece of mind, I guess.

Help—What is IWE excuse my ignorance and cv is that constant velocity joint? Thanks in advance.

On the last couple of runs i saw a tie rod go down on a gen 2 and a control arm on a gen 1. I believe both were aftermarket parts.
Someone had an extra tie rod so it was a 45 minute fix.
They got the control arm workable so the truck could limp back to the road. The 3lb sledge, zip ties, extra washers came in handy.

Swaybar endlinks maybe? Def IWE check valve

lots of thread about what is IWE, how it work, and why it can fail, make me think I should also put one in my tool box...

edit: For swaybar system, I don't think it's necessary to worry about it, you can remove it and still use your truck, it will be better offroad, but handless on road... I guess
