Just curious what you guys think, can Ford make this 6.8L V8 make 550-580hp and 630-650tq? I feel like a NA application wont have the high tq .

@FordTechOne , your input is desired

I think your numbers are way to high for a NA motor. Even at 6.8L, you would have to turn the motor to 6500 rpm to even get there. Could not see TQ ever getting past 550 and that’s probably pushing the number. So much more you can do with forced induction today.

What features are you thinking of? What features need to be on the Gen 3 that are not already on the Gen 2 or the latest F-150, but are needed to make the Raptor special? There is the more obvious engine options and suspension, but what else?

Launch control?
Trail maps?
Crabwalk - 4 wheel steering?
Removable doors/roof?

And what features can be put on the Raptor without departing too far away from the general F-150 design?

Many new features will come to it via the F-150 and several you mentioned could be nice.

I like the various under vehicle camera idea like the new Hummer has. This doesn’t seem to gimmick and can help. High end vehicle deserves a high end audio system when you pay for this option. People know good and they know quality these days. I read the Bronco has automated detachable sway bars for extra travel. Should the Raptor get this? I can make a list and not even get into the power train. It’s up to the vehicle designers to come up with things that will wow us, if they plan to be on top. Way to much competition coming.

Agree on that. Even if you really don't have a need for it, it's a cool feature to have and show off. I was thinking it might be too difficult to add additional cameras into the system like that, but probably not. And it's something that you could fairly easy add to other F150 trims as part of a package, and other models for that matter. Seems like a no brainer.

Whatever system is available in the platinum and limited trims will be there on the Raptor, and I imagine it won't be much better than 2020 model. I think most people are happy to believe they have a high end system whether they really do or not. And those that aren't happy with it are going to be prone to put in their own system regardless of what Ford does stock.

A part of me doesn't want them to improve the audio system just because that's less justification to spend big money on something that is only marginally better.

The Hummer was also setup so you could add 37" tires without issue. Would we want the Raptor to be designed for that as well? I believe the Hummer can do this more easily because of the air suspension setup. Not sure a Raptor could really do the same.

One thing that I find annoying with the Gen 2 is that there isn't a single button to fully open the sunroof, which is what I want to do 99% of the time. I have to press the open button, wait for it to go halfway, then press again. Why I can't have buttons for full open/close? Better yet, why can't I configure buttons to do as I wish? Taking a step further, it would be cool to have a few 'smart buttons' available that you could assign a serious of tasks to. Similar to the seat memory buttons. For example, it would be nice to be able to press a button that opens all windows and the roof, while setting the thermostat to a 75, and the audio volume to 15...or whatever.

Well if you invest 2k+, you can substantially improve the factory system. But that’s up to each owner to decide on.

Room for 37’s from the factory would be big for the Raptor. It’s almost a feature that should be of high importance on Fords list. A serious off-road truck needs options like this. Just the room for them, that the owner can decide to do. As we know they cant out these tires on from the factory. This would impact gas mileage and performance in general with on road especially.

Manufacturers are thinking more and making things human friendly. More thought to making simple tasks simple, should continue. This would be nice, but certainly not on the top of a Raptor buyers list.

Right, but if Ford added $2k to the factory system, there would still be a portion who feel it's not good enough. they have a factory sub option right now, and a lot of people just laugh at that. I think I'd rather see them make the audio system easier to install aftermarket speakers/amps/subs then improved the quality of their base system.

I think it's even easier than that. All they have to do is what mods people are doing to their truck and see if they can make that as a standard or option on stock. Or maybe just make it so that customers can more easily mod their truck. As an example, should Ford add on board air? Maybe, what are the chances that customers won't like the model they chose and want a different version anyway. Perhaps putting electric plugs in the bed to make it easier to add the air yourself is a better option.

And we are seeing some of the new trucks come with roll top bed covers. Do we want this on a Raptor? No, because people want to chose between roll top, soft top, hard top, trifold, no top, top that supports bed rails....etc.

Since the 6.8 is most likely a de-stroked 7.3, I doubt the torque would be that high. If they design it for high RPM, they could probably get ~520HP and a similar torque number.
