I wish I was able to sing the praises of these, but unfortunately I must advise you not to install them if you live in a cold climate. If any of you got these for Christmas like I did, wait until warmer weather or look elsewhere.
I installed these 2 days ago and followed the directions to the letter. I left my windows up for 48 hours as suggested by the directions. Well, the first time I rolled my window up the whole front edge of my driver side cracked in 2 separate places where the vent sits in the weather strip channel.
I called WeatherTech immediately and they advised me that I might be SOL. The woman stated to me that the '11+ F-150s are the hardest vehicles to install these on and they have a lot of problems. She said installing them in cold weather will lead to them cracking and proceeded to give me a kindergarten level explanation of how cold weather makes plastics more brittle.
Don't get me wrong, these vent shades look great and the woman remained respectful throughout the conversation but I am not pleased with the product at all. If you can hold out until Summer to install these then please wait. Otherwise return them and seek out other options because WeatherTech will not help you if something goes wrong!
The directions said nothing about acceptable install temperatures, mind you. I did, however, discover the window bounce-back override today because there were shards of plastic stuck in my window channel.
If your window bounces back and rolls down, within 2 seconds of it reaching the lowered position just pull the window switch all the way up to the auto-detent and hold it. The window will roll all the way up no matter what.
