Looks like rust to me. The truck originated from Canada so i would have the dealer send more detailed photos including undercarriage etc before you travel.
Agreed. Carfax shows it's from Ontario. My truck was also from Ontario and has the same issue on both sides. Was quoted $5k to get it fixed. PXL_20210319_162017676.jpg

My buddy is from Sedalia, MO and his parents are still there. I could see if he'll be there some time over the next couple of weeks to look at it for you if it would help. Not sure trusting someone that doesn't know the truck to get any better information than the dealer, but I can shoot some texts out if you want.

I know it was the Canada truck, but frame cut bumper and you don't need the stock skid plate or toe hooks. Problem solved.

Smart in looking for that Gen1. Everyone knows they are better. :smiley-face-popcorn

Too bad you have to buy asap. Never a good way to buy used.

These things rust. They cost $$$$ to repair. At least have them take photos of underside before you buy tickets...

Welcome! Also a newb having picked up a 2013 Screw (100k) earlier this week.

Def check out the rust, that should be a deal breaker. And did you get a PPI done by a credible mechanic? Can’t stress how important this is.

Not trying to rain on your parade, but I found serious mechanical issues with ones who has more than 2 owners in California.

More than happy to jump on a call with you and share my knowledge on what to look for.

If you’re rushing...

1. check what type of smoke comes out at cold start.

2. check underneath the oil cap for sludge or the milkshake of death.

3. Check the radiator fluid for particles or shavings.

4. Check the 4wd system and transfer case.
