Have any of you guys went out and tried to rattle this piece of the wastegate actuator?

It would really help me out with next steps. Does everyones have crazy slop like mine? Or is everyones tight? Truck doesn't need to be running to do this.

Can I get 5 of you Gen2 owners to do this today and report back here? Watch my video again if you are not sure what to check. Will take you 2 minutes.

Mine has the same slop as yours does, I actually went out and wiggled it with my fingers last night using a flashlight. It makes me wonder what the engineering intent was for this design? My only conclusion is that they left room in there for thermal expansion due to the heat near the turbo to possibly prevent binding but then again I could be dead wrong.

Thanks bro. Anyone else? After a handful confirm the same I guess we can agree its by design. Its a noisy MF, I know that.

I might call Ford Performance and see if they will tell me why is got so much play. Im just curious.

Same here. But it doesn't rattle. Agreed, otherwise it could've easily been a fixed gap hinge joint. Maybe Permatex makes some kind of heat-resistant, flexible/compressible goop that can be squeezed in there sparingly and provide just enough cushion to reduce the rattling? Need to hear from an expert on turbo design.

I just went out and checked mine. It rattles/wiggles, not quite as much as yours does though.

Mine may have more play than others. I have a feeling though if I waste a trip to Ford and drop off my truck it will be all for nothing. I have more miles on my truck likely than most of you. 5,700. Maybe it gets looser with time.

someone can develop bigger turbo outlets, surely someone can develop a non-rattling actuator!
