Did anyone notice real world benefits from lighter wheels (rotational mass)? From my understanding the stock 37 package beadlocks are 37 lbs and the VR-601BLs are 24.4 lbs. Curious to see if anyone has experienced benefits for 13 lb lighter wheels per corner.

Thanks Nick for the quick response!

Some benefits of lighter wheels you might notice in daily use are quicker acceleration, shorter distance to come to a full stop, and better fuel mileage.

Or like my sxs wheels, MSA dark tint. On 601. Something chrome but not chrome.View attachment 425483

Unfortunately, this is not a finish that we offer on the VR wheels. However, we do have a similar finish with a dark brushed tint in some other wheels from Vossen. Feel free to send me a message if you'd like some more info.

I can actually speak to this firsthand.

We were one of the first dealers to debut the VenomRex wheels back in the day and I had their first ever set of bronze on my 2018 Raptor. I wanted to be able to upgrade to a more aggressive tire, but also be able to save weight and not go super heavy with my setup. So I installed the 20x9 VR-601 wheels that weighted 28.4lb and then wrapped them in Nitto Ridge Grappler 325/60R20 tires that were E rated instead of F rated and weighed less than their 35x12.50R20 counterparts.

The result was that the stock wheel and tire combo weighed 97.7lb combined and the VR + Nitto setup weighed 98.2lb and it felt just like stock. Later on, we decided to run a set of the VR-602 17" wheels which were 24lb on the stock BFGs and you could really tell a huge difference in that 10lb.

Remember that rotational weight, AKA unsprung weight, has about a 10:1 effect vs static weight. So removing 10lb at each corner for a total of 40lb of unsprung weight is like removing 400lb off the truck. You'll feel that difference in your acceleration, braking, and even your fuel mileage...if you can keep your foot out of it!

Also guys, I wanted to update this post and the main post has been updated.

The new 20" VR-601BL wheel in the 6x135 bolt pattern for Ford truck is actually a +12 offset and not a 0 offset. We were originally told that the new 20s would be 0 offset, but that was a mistake. The 17" wheels are still a 0 offset.

***UPDATE 9/19/2023 - The 17" VR-601BL is in stock in all finishes and the 20" VR-601BL is in stock in Tungsten Graphite and Coal Black!***

Apollo Optics is proud to announce that Vorsteiner Offroad has officially release the the 20" version of the VR-601BL wheel!

The original 20" VR-601 wheel was introduced by Vorsteiner Offroad (formerly VenomRex) back in winter 2017 and it was one of the first, if not the first, in the off-road market to use a flow forged manufacturing process making them some of the lightest 20" wheels on the market.

Since 2017, Vorsteiner Offroad has released a number of wheels including the incredibly popular VR-601BL, which up to this point was only available in a 17" version. Now, the VR-601BL will be available in a 20" version!

Utilizing the aforementioned flow forged construction (forged barrel with a cast face), these wheels are not only stronger than traditional cast wheels, but also significantly lighter at just 28.8lb for a 20x9 wheel.

The wheel fitment is 20x9 ET 12 offset and they're hub centric with an 87.1mm hub bore. Finishes available include Coal Black, Tungsten Graphite, and Baja Bronze.

Of course, if you don't like the look the look of 20s and prefer 17" wheels, the 17" VR-601BL is also available! It's a 17x9 0 offset wheel and tips the scales at 24lb each.

These wheels are in stock and ready to ship!

Lastly, all orders of 4 or more wheels will receive free black lug nuts as well.

If you have any questions, please feel free to send me a DM.

Hi Nick, the 29 lb 20x9 sounded great but just checked their website site it states the weight is 36.6 lbs. is that accurate?

Additionally it looks the VR-605 came in a 20” but now just 17”. Any idea if/when offered in a 20” again? Thanks in advance

I just reached out to Vorsteiner on this. They said the 36.6lb is the boxed shipping weight of the wheels and the actual wheel weight is 5lb less at 31.6lb. We'll get our site updated accordingly.

The VR-605BL never came in a 20" fitment. That's their latest design and is 17" only. You may be thinking of the VR-603 which was only available in 20" and is a multi-spoke design. This wheel has effectively been discontinued, but we do have 2 sets of Desert Bronze left in stock.

If you're OK with the weight, we do have the VR-601BL 20" wheels in stock and ready to ship in both the Tungsten Graphite and Coal Black finishes. Happy to help get you dialed in.

Nick can correct me if I'm wrong (I hope I am), but my understanding is that Vorsteiner is no longer making the VR-601BL in 17" in bronze. Which is unfortunate because I really want two bronze sets, one for my antimatter Raptor and another set in 6x139.7 for my cactus gray Ranger Raptor that was just delivered.
