Read somewhere recently that the volant ram air scoop would NOT work on 2013s and up with HID headlights. Anyone else have this problem or those w/2013s and 2014 with factory HID been able to install the scoop with no issue?

I have been playing around with the one I bought and I was going to fab it to work with the airaid bud I'm just gonna buy a volant intake. The airaid keeps falling apart...

But the scoop goes right behind the driver headlight. I would just order one and do some test fitting, its only $99 for the scoop I think, if it doesn't work just sell it!

Let us know what you find!

volant on 2013 w/ ram air

Well I answered my own question tonight.

1. It fits, it is tight but it fits
2. Only did a 5 mile test run but it is awesome with the Corsa Extreme, can't wait to get the tune from SVC in a few days
3. No resonance. As a precautionary measure I forced rubber tubing in between the intake box and the coolant tank
4. Thanks to Chris at Freedom motor sports for his tips a while back regarding the mounts, made a world of difference
5. Did not remount the hood sensor switch. It was do-able, but it would have required reshaping the bracket. I don't like not being able to start the engine with the hood open, so I just zip tied the sensor and secured it away
6. Louder, yes, but only when slamming on it. Nothing noticeable with normal driving.

How solid is the CAI? I'm ready to get rid of this airaid that keeps falling apart.

Yes and No. It is such a tight fit with the ram air scoop it actually holds the whole assembly more solid. I wish the Volant utilized the same bolt location as the stock airbox. Other than the plastic posts there is only one small bolt that connects to the overflow tank bracket. Until the ram air scoop was installed there was a lot of play in the box and tank. I believe this is the reason a lot of guys are getting the vibration / resonance issues.

Another potential concern area are the plastic hose fittings in the plastic air tube. Not the sturdiest of designs, they should have molded the fittings in or placed a metal insert for the fitting to screw into

Hmmm if it ever became a problem I'm sure I could fab something up. It seems like none of the aftermarket intakes are sturdy... My airaid definitely isn't...

What do you mean by resonance? Every now and then I'll be cruising along and I get this weird shudder/vibration right before I step on the gas. I've checked all my fitting and everything is tight. I do not have the ram scoop. @Chris@FreedomMotorsports any ideas?

I am honestly not sure what causes the resonance sound. My Volant actually seems pretty sturdy and the only thing that I have noticed with mine is more pronounced engine growl under throttle. It IS possible that the shutter is coming from the intake. Like mentioned, what I believe may be the cause is that the intake box kind of just sits on the mounting plate. It may be possible to get rubber grommets for under the intake box that may tighten things enough to eliminate that.

Well I went for a more in depth test drive this afternoon. Here is my .02 cents
1. Absolutely bad ass when gunning it, also gave the exhaust a different, meaner, tone
2. When feathering or pedaling it during light acceleration, not noticeably different than stock
3. When under moderate (3-4 on a scale to 10) there is a slight resonance coming through the dash for very brief periods, maybe 1 sec during gear changes. You almost have to try to get it to do it. **note** I have not received my tuner yet, will reevaluate when the SVC tune is installed.
