It was jerking so violently I couuldn't move forward more than 5 feet before feeling like I'm thgoing to dig myself into the sand.

the hoods fiberglass and shaking. If u have someone stand outside and film i bet ull see the whole front end bouncing, including the tires, fenders bumpers.
Im pretty positive, but 38 will definitely cause it. You could have something wrong but I would be extremely surprised.

keep us posted. Good luck

Biggwrrm, yes thats exactly what it felt like.

For sake of discussion, I usually venture into that sort of sand with my nissan patrol with the same tire pressure.
Yes its not a truck with leaf springs and virtually no load in the bed to add any downforce, but still.

I'm not arguing with you - just surprised at this experience.

From an old guy that’s been driving trucks since I was 9,your experiencing wheel hop, nothing else. Too lite on the rear and no traction in loose sand. Air down till it’s controllable and have some fun. Traction bars might help also. Wheel hop is mostly always the result of trying to get moving in loose sand.

I think @Biggwrm nails it here. 38 is way, way, way too high for soft sand.

This thing is bigger, heavier, more power, more torque, and suspension designed to be compliant. Think of it like taking a truck, with suspension like a porsche 911 into the sand. That same suspension that gets you around passo di stelvio in short order, would dig in and get stuck in a few yards of soft sand. You have to air down the tires to permit the tires to work with the suspension, as a component of it, rather than something attached to the suspension. Airing down will grant more compliance over imperfections and should reduce that wheel hop shaking you’re seeing.

I live in a desert.
All my off road dwelling was either on a Nissan Patrol (also my previous vehicle y62, but used the t16 as well) and the Toyota land cruiser.

Both having conventional coil over shock suspension.

What you day makes absolute sense. But it's one of those things you need to experience to fully comprehend.

I actually waltzed into the desert with 42 all around.
With my previous 4x4s, that pressure was far from ideal but manageable if I wasn't planning on scrambling up 30 meter dunes.

Then after 10 minutes of the hopping, I aired down to 38.
But the hopping remained as violent that I wrote off air pressure being the culprit.

I run the beach with very soft sand quite often and tire pressure is 100% critical. With other vehicles I have run down to single digit but with the raptor I have not been below 15psi

I think if you air down you will have a night and day experience

To add on that, wheel hop is very violent. We ran a DRW super duty out there once and the wheel hop was insane until we aired all 6 load E tires WAY down to about 8psi...then it had no problem at all.
