Thanks guys. I just edited my post a bit to include more detail.

I think one thing that can't be overstated for our purposes... the Contours lens is behind a large flat piece of glass. It looks to me like the Hero and Drift both have either round glass and/or the glass is small. To me, this means that most likely the glass in those cameras is all in the field of view... you're just not going to keep it clean in the real world. In my case, I wiped the camera every 5 or so minutes as we rolled. Because the Contour's glass is oversized, I didn't have to worry about cleaning the edges (which my finger cant get into). Seems to me the Hero and Drift you would have to clean those edges to avoid having them show up in your video as a dirty dusty halo. Not sure how you're going to clean them that well, with your finger on the move...

Food for thought.

^^ Good read Dan, thanks for posting the link.

There is a plus for the Hero HD and that is you can buy it with a waterproof housing that is good to 150 ft, whereas the Contour waterproof housing is only good to 33 feet. It's a shame because the Hero would be the one I would choose if only they offered a better case for it.

I have the go-pro HD! and I love it!

Both "Raptor Run 1" and "Raptor Run 2" I recorded in only 720 because I was worried about space on my memory card. But recently I have filmed some of my buddies doing motorcycle stunts in full HD and it looks amazing!

Plus Go-pro is a local northern California company that I would prefer to support and buy their product. One of my friends in my motorcycle crew has an old college buddy that works for go-pro and might want to sponsor our crew with a few more cameras to film on our street rides, parking lot stunt sessions, and riding dirt.

The only problems I have come across is when I'm riding my street bike and I have my camera mounted to my helmet I have a really hard time being able to tell if it is on and recording or not. and secondly, I busted one of the mounts by trying to adjust it with too much force. other than that no complaints.
