VHF Radio installation ideas

Anyone have ideas on where to mount the VHF radio? Center console means make holes in it or lids up while its in use.. Treypal has it next to the shifter, which so far seems most user freindly and will keep the whine in the seat next to me at a minimal level. Looking for really good idea here, seems nosbusa might be handy here. Something thats made or could be made to fit it securely and yet durable. Maybe if somone has a picture of the 'POLICE PACKAGE" interior... Any help ?

Actually, I ran an external speaker so you don't have deal with opening and closing the console lid.
