I think that you could easily incorporate newer participants as chase trucks if you want to hold the support truck slots for people that you have more confidence in.

I know that I'd have no issues running chase for a group and keeping the herd moving if I made it up there.

Maybe add an extra day for the support people to do a short "shake out" run to iron out the kinks before the big group departure? I know I'd absolutely love to do snowball but unless lots of previous participants drop out or there are multiple runs it's pretty unlikely I'll ever get a chance.

Unfortunately there is way more to it than just driving behind the group.

At some point 100% of the support drivers have been on the Prerun. Thats 800+ miles over 2 days.

This year registration might be different. We want new people to experience the Snoball and are trying to find the best way to make that happen.

Hopefully I didn't come across as downplaying the responsibilities of the support trucks. I have a pretty firm grasp of what they do and am comfortable with all of their duties. The real test is just getting up there.

No problems, The biggest thing to us is the support drivers are representing GLRE. To the Participants, Police, State of MI, Resisdents etc. We take great pride in choosing our support drivers and know that they will make great choices and decisions if we are not around.

The 2015 Support drivers are all set and are some of the best drivers from the last few years of the Snoball.
