Don’t spend that much money. I just bought a Uniden R3 for like $300 new. I don’t think you need the arrows. It’s mainly for my Evo. I don’t feel safe going too fast in my Raptor with it’s extremely poor braking performance and handling.

I couldn’t live without the arrows, especially with commuting up and down the jersey turnpike where the staties hunt in packs from time to time. Knowing which direction the threat is coming from helps immensely with finding it as well as making an educated guess as to what action I need to take. I’ll take any advantage I can to increase my situational awareness.

all radar detector are good,just choice.
but if you speed ,you going to be caught!
cruise control 10 miles over speed limit ,never got ticket.
in Portland ,OR,and all the way to Seattle a lot of motorcycle have laser,you are screw..............
If they POP you,the same!
Just like to have one RD,know where LEO are.

V1 vote from me! There’s just something about the old school feeling that the V1 has that I love. I have an R3 as well. It’s a lot more high tech with all the GPS, red light cameras, lockouts, etc. I always run the V1 in the raptor and the R3 in my GT3RS;)

Once you go Valentine, you never go back.

Until you get the R7... Which is much better than the very much outdated V1.

Spoken from a long time Valentine user... But Mike no longer supports his product...

So if you want the best range WITH ARROWS, along with GPS to pick up red light cameras etc. Buy the R7.(then check ou it this link to set it up)

But be warned, a radar detector is for radar not laser...For that you need the Antilaser Pro (ALP)

Simply follow these rules.

  1. Never be the lead car, always have someone out in front of you so you can visually see brake lights. Everyone brakes when they see a cop.
  2. Never speed around a curve or over a hill.
  3. Check all over passes and on ramps.
  4. Find a rabbit, keep 1/8 back from someone who drives as fast as you.
  5. stay in the right lane except to pass. cops train radar on the left lane.
  6. WAZE!!!!!!!!
Get the R7.
I, too, drive fast, around 80-85mph.
I also back the Uniden R3. When I was in the market, the Valentine was my first choice, but found vortex on YouTube and was sold on the R3. This was before the R7 came out, otherwise, I would've picked up the R7. Also, the Uniden picks up radar miles ahead and gives you ample time to slow down. They're also great with software updates.

The suggestions above are solid and would like to add:
7. Dont drive as fast during daytime. CHP or your highway patrol typically use lidar depending on your state during daytime. Radar detectors won't pick up laser unless it's pointed within a small radius with your detector. They're trained to aim at your license plate or headlights. With the Raptor being tall and wide, your radar detector won't pick up the laser due to the distance from your headlight or license plate to your windshield. Ask me how I know... The remedy for that would be a laser jammer, but that's another topic.
At night, you're golden. Highway patrol use radar during dark hours.
8. Always pay attention to fast drivers on your rear view. It may be highway patrol.
9. At night, use your fog lights. They help pick up the reflection of a patrol car.
