Go online and look for a dude on YouTube. Vortex. He has all the info you need. R7 is most sensitive detector out there. (That’s great but has side effects.) Follow his recommended settings.

I have had multiple Escorts and Unidens. Upgraded recently from R3 to R7. Tweaked some settings and loving it. And yes, Waze is great to get even earlier alerts.

^ Vortex for sure is the authority on radar detectors. I have a Valentine 1, Max 360 and the Uniden R3 on each of my vehicles. The R7 for sure is the latest and greatest and has similar performance to the R3 with the added benefit of directional arrows. While I love the V1 it’s a bit long in the tooth and is actually (out of stock according to Valentines website) lot’s of rumors as to why that is...

Each radar has their quirks. I use the Uniden R3 in the Raptor with Blendmount and may upgrade to the R7 down the road as I like the directional arrows. For me a radar is a no brainer, but isn’t a substitute for common sense, safety and responsibility.

Another vote for the Valentine 1 here. I’ve always had one, and have had it upgraded twice now. I was shopping for a second detector recently, and was seriously considering the R7, but ended up with another valentine.

The reason: I really like the remote display mounts. In my corvettes they’ve always been hidden in an ashtray or other compartment. On my last two jeeps they’ve been down low in front of the gear selector. In the raptor I have the detector mounted to the pax side headliner and hardwired to the no. 6 upfitter. The remote display is down in the little tray in front of the gear selector.

I'm really surprised at the amount of V1 guys here. I would have guessed that being Gen 2 owners the latest tech in the R7 would have been the go to. I love my V1, but I'm also pleased with my Uniden R3 and it's performance in a cleaner package.
