This isn't an issue of looks, so please retain those opinions.

My question and deciding factor will be if the hood graphics on the '13 do anything worthwhile for sun glare. (I think they changed them from satin to matte for '13????)

I'm getting the box graphics, but the hood graphics don't add or detract from the truck for me. But if there's a positive functional purpose for having it, I'd be glad to add the $740 (dealer-quoted) for the fancy sticker.

I say go for it and if you really dont like it just take it off. I would guess that it would help somewhat with the glare.

You can get this added aftermarket for less than half the price. You get many more options as far as length and material. Save the $. Do it aftermarket. Same quality or even better in my opinion.

I've seen this mentioned several times, but haven't found "the" source for it.

I've had my '13 for two days now, but drove it a hundred miles into the sun as it was fading the first day. I am completely impressed with the hood graphic. I dropped the visor to take care of the sun itself and never felt the need to place my hand in front of the reflection at all. Performed just as I had hoped it would.

It shined, but it never made me squint or move my head to change the angle, etc. the way I have to do on my white work truck.

I am really glad I got mine with hood graphics. I ordered my 2013 without them but the new 2012 i ended up with had it. I think it really breaks up the white color.

What color raptor are you going to get??

So if your only interested in the "utility" of the hood graphics...I would say...there really isn't any. It's a decal...that's all... I don't believe Ford design/engineering really gave much thought to "glare reduction", "paint fade reduction", or "rock chip reduction" when they decided to offer up the decal option. They take inputs from consumers, mix that up with a little "aesthetic appeal" design, and presto...you have an option. We all have seen the decal changes over the years for not just the Raptor, but other vehicles as well (Look at how many changes the Trans Am firebird decal went through..). My point is simply this...stop thinking so hard about it...look at a Raptor with/without the decal, and trust your instincts...either you like it....or you don't. This should not take weeks, days, or even hours. Good luck...

I've had no issues with glare from my white hood and I drive into the sun every evening. As far as utility I don't see the graphics coming into play. I like the appearance of the hood graphics but my past experience with water spots on black hood decals turned me away. Good luck either way.
