so i've been listening to exhaust clips and getting quotes all day. the borla touring and corsa extreme are on the list as the only two possibilities after replacing the x pipe with a y pipe. my concern is drone. loud outside the cab i'm not worried about too much anymore...gotta stop worrying about the neighbors at this point. the corsa sounds beastly, similar to the stainless in by opinion with a deeper pitch. the borla i've always liked b/c of the deep low rumble. but, i'm worried about the drone. i'm assuming minimal but we all know about assumptions. i'm told the corsa extreme, even when combined with headers produces zero drone. so now i'm torn. wondering if anyone has seen both systems in actions...even if just the borla since chris over at freedom motorsports was extremely helpful in describing what he heard out of the extreme with headers installed.

Bringing this back alive...

Stainless Works 1 7/8"s headers, high flow cats, X-pipe, and now put on two Dynomax VT mufflers. Wow, good stuff. Doesn't sound nearly as loud at idle, 1/2-WOT it is the same animal it was before, and I've only been able to do local cruising 30-45mph, NO DRONE. I'll find out highway this weekend and post back up. So far, I'm impressed.

Loving my dynomax vt as well. I have it installed with a corsa resonator delete along with the pipes from my original magnaflow kit. It's eerily quiet on the highway at any rpm but as soon as you crack it open its a very loud / raw sound.

ehh... drone is back, also developed a nasty rattle from one of them. Called and they're taking them back under warranty and giving me $50 for each unit in labor reimbursement.

I think it's time to pull the trigger on the y-pipe and corsa extreme... @Rookie, PM me your best pricing on the y-pipe and Corsa extreme please....

Guys I have a stainless works system on my truck also and I had the same issues you are talking about plus the system self destructed when I went to trr last year it couldn't handle the weight of itself and ripped itself off basically. But because I live close enough to stainless works I called George and stopped over so that we could solve the problems. They where very responsive and I think we can up with a fix for the problems with the self destruction and we solved the drone issue at the same time and we didn't mean to. If you currently have a lightning style exhaust all you have to do is take off the pipes as they come out of the back of the mufflers and make them turn down. The drone goes away you keep the aggressive sound and it's still a little on the load side but it's much better then it was before. It's a cheap fix it's worth a shot if you still have the stainless works mufflers.
