Day 2

Trey had decided that 8:00 was a good meet and start time.
Jarrett from RPG and his wife showed up in Creede for the next few Days of the run. We headed North on hwy 149 towards Lake City again but took a couple of detours to see some water falls and then up to a great peak to spend some time to do photos and take in the great views.
We got stopped for construction traffic so it was a good opportunity to take a picture of the group for the day.

After taking another loop off of hwy 149 we pulled into Lake City after a huge downpour. We stopped back into the Packers Saloon to have lunch before heading over Engineers Pass. The trip over Engineers is always interesting and beautiful. This time was while it was raining in the clouds on the South Side of the Mtn and clear once we reached the top and the North side.

We finally got down off the mtn onto the hwy 550 just a few miles from Ouray Colorado. We also lucked out big time cause while we were up on Engineer Pass with all the rain, the hwy was closed due to rock slides. Since we came out between the 2 closure points we headed into Ouray not knowing the road was closed. We got just a mile down and Rocks were everywhere on inside lane. The hwy crew had just cleared the outside lane and we pulled onto the hwy just in front of the first pilot truck escorting everyone through. When we got down to where the south bound traffic was stopped, the line of vehicles was at least 2 miles long. Our timing could not have been better.
Everyone had their rooms already reserved for Ouray and I knew where the campground that I was planning on was at. Well in all the fun I had not discovered that my bed cover slid open all the way this time and everything was soaked. I picked the first motel I saw and they had 1 room left. so I took it and Maddy and I had comfort for the night. Hot shower felt good and Maddy thought the bed was perfect at about 11:00 pm when she came climbing up onto the bed. It didn't take long for both of us to start snoring.

End Day 2

---------- Post added at 07:22 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:18 PM ----------

I just bought chicken breast, thick cut pepper bacon, chipotle mayo, cheese, and buns. Everything is cooking as we speak. That's right compadres, I'm making my own "chicken sammich"!!

No cute eastern-block waitress though... bummer!

I asked where she was from. Slovakia.

Day 3

So all was good for the 2nd night in Ouray.
Pickles and his family decided to head over to Telluride by pavement since his 4 wheel drive was acting up. Probably a good thing as he may have had some trouble with what lied ahead for our trip up to Yankee Boy Basin and over Imogene Pass into Telluride.

The wildflowers are one of the items that you cannot avoid in the Colorado Rocky Mtns. They did not disappoint us on this trip. They were beautiful and plenty of them.

There was also the most traffic I have ever seen on these 2 trails. I have been visiting the San Juans for 25 years and I have never seen the amount of 4x4's, Tour Trucks, sideXsides and Quads as I did this time.
These next picture's will illustrate from Yankee Boy basin through Imogene creek and up over Imogene Pass into Telluride.

This last picture is Black Bear trail coming down by Bridal Veil Falls and into Telluride. Which is where most of us aired up tires and made our last good-byes on what was a epic journey with Treypal leading the way and others that helped out to make this a very memorable trip. It was great meeting all you guys and gals and I will look forward to more of these in the future.

It really took me a while to figure out that was my truck! Almost every distinct part of my Raptor is hidden by the splash.

The Twins love water crossings!!!
