Transmission issue help needed... Driving on highway, 65+/- mph, big wrench on screen, truck shifted to 5th gear, all dash went to zero, still lit, speedometer 0, mileage not reading, no odometer, tach still works. Truck wouldn't down shift or up to 6. Got off ramp, truck downshifts to 3 at full stop, can't manually shift down or up. Take off, still have 3, 4, and 5th gear. Radio works windows work, dash and transmission only apparent issues. Stopped, turned off truck, restart, and everything seems fine... Now what?

Tis the season. Theres a TSB referenced on here. Sounds like yours is closer to the TSB condtions than mine. I searched for transmission.

Mine did the same once, it was the lead frame connector on transmission (I believe this is the TSB cups is referring to). Replaced at the dealer 0 cost.

Here it is: http://www.fordraptorforum.com/f183/tsb-13-6-8-transmission-26055/

This is a TSB:
TSB 13-6-8 (publication date June 7, 2013)

Issue: Some 2011-2014 Mustang, 2011-2013 F-150, 2012-2013 Expedition and Navigator vehicles equipped with a 6R80 transmission and built on or before 4/8/2013 may exhibit a transmission engagement in 5th gear when starting. The wrench indicator and/or the seat belt minder may be illuminated, the speedometer reads zero and the odometer displays dashes while driving. Symptoms may clear after an ignition key cycle. Diagnostics trouble codes (DTCs) PO720 and PO722 may or may not be stored in the powertrain control module.

SRS... this sounds like me. The TSB seems to address an internal issue (bulkhead connector), and an external issue (lead frame connector). Am I correct? Can I assume it could be 1 or the other and are these DIY fixes?

Hard to say. I know when they did mine it was just open up the trans and replace the lead frame connector. I didn't watch them do it, but can't imagine it would be that difficult. They didn't say anything about the bulkhead connector on mine.

my truck had this issue also, mine issue was the exhaust got to hot( all temp gauges were normal at the time) and had started to melt the wiring harness that runs on the floor right behind the passenger seat under the carpet, mine was so far gone that it actually killed my truck thou, took 6 weeks for the dealer to find it on mine. so id check those wires just in case

Transmission went loco again other day, drove to dealership to show them as it was happening because last time there was no persistent code left. Service manager saw issue but had nobody available to pull code. He documented what he witnessed and I went to AutoZone and pulled code "P0720". Made appointment, brought into dealership, explained to transmission "guru" my experience and handed him code read printout and TSB printout at 09:00 today, truck was done by 15:00. Al Packer Ford West in Palm Beach County... good service experience.
