Ice hit my mirror...new exterior towing mirrors?
On a recent trip with my 2011 SCrew on I-84 through New York state, some idiot with a horse trailer didn't clear ice on the top of their trailer. Perhaps you can see where this is going...the ice flew off his trailer and hit my left side driver mirror. The black plastic shroud around the mirror glass was smashed and after attempting to follow the driver, he got off the highay and I was unable to speak to him. I did get his plate number though.
Long story...short, my insurance company said unless he admits fault, his insurance would likely not cover it. At this point, I don't think it's worth pursuing this through insurance. I got on the phone with my dealer and they quoted me like $950 to fix it because the black plastic is not replaceable. I guess the whole mirror has to be replaced. After I explained the situation, he came down on price to $650. Still expensive for 1 mirror.
Continuing with my rant, I found these...
Tasca Ford - F-150 Tow Mirrors
They are essentially the same as these...
Power, Heat, Signal & Puddle Lamp-"Paint to Match"
(RH) 9L3Z-17682-CAPTM - $317.65
(LH) 9L3Z-17683-CAPTM - $314.88
I don't see why they wouldn't fit the Raptor. I had an interesting chain of events that caused me to look into this. For some time, I'd wanted to upgrade my mirrors because larger mirrors would provide better rear viewing anyways. If the covers can be painted to match, then they would definately look factory. This got me thinking...could I transfer the mirror covers from my stock mirrors? Thoughts anyone?
Thanks
