Towing ability…definitely impressed

Just towed my Dad’s old f-150 that was giving to me after he passed. Trip was over 500 miles… FL to NC. Averaged 12.9mpg with a tow weight over 6k LBs. Figured I’d be lucky to get 10 with this amount of weight. A bit of squat in the rear as to be expected. If I was towing like this frequently, I’d get some help back there.

What was your tongue weight? That truck looks to be on too short of a trailer and should have been moved further back.

Maybe for a trip across town. 500 miles is quite a trip though.

How fast were you able to go? I towed a Dodge Dakota 300 miles with my Gen 2 and never felt comfortable going over 65mph. Just set the cruise at 60mph and watched all the cars pass me going 25 mph faster. That was a fun day

Mine just did it’s first heavy haul too. I got 16.7 doing 70. Timbers on the trailer and 100 gallons of water in the bed.

Word of advice- back the old truck on next time, helluva lot less tongue weight when the engines in the back lol

One thing I did notice is these Gen3s seem to squat even worse than the Gen2s, is there an stiffer aftermarket coil spring option yet or no? Airbags?
