Towing a Raptor with a Diesel RV

You can’t flat tow all 4wd vehicles. They need to be designed for it i.e. have a neutral option on the transfer case itself, or have a computer setting to allow it to be towed. When you flat tow it, depending on truck make and model, you’re potentially engaging both driveshafts and axles with the possibility of expensive damage

Ford, Dodge and Chevy trucks can all be towed. They have to be 4x4 units. Before towing any of them, go to "Recreational Towing" in the Owners Manual and it will tell you if it can be flat towed and the procedure.

Hey brother! I drove to and out of Fairbanks, AK when I got stationed there. My advice, trailer the Raptor. The trailer will serve to haul ATVs or UTVs if buy toys up there. Car haulers are pretty inexpensive these days.

Tow ours every summer,thousands of miles no problems ..Alaskan highway, paint, glass damage alone will probably be worth putting it on a trailer. It’s wide and catches everything off the coach.

Towing a Raptor seems like a lot of extra weight for the TV. I know they do not get good gas mileage to begin with, but how much worse when towing a 5500+ lb vehicle behind it?

I have towed my 2018 Raptor about 1500 miles. I have a 39" diesel, 10,000 Blue ox tow bar and base plates, Demco Delta force portable braking system. I think it is one of the best portable systems. Used its own air compressor very fast.
I get 9-10 mpg not towing, 7-9 towing. I only notice it on a highway on ramp- unlike a trailer- it will follow the same path as the rv so making turns is easy. But you can NOT back up! so you must be very careful when you get in tight places.

Not much, for me when I don't tow (hardly ever) 8 mpg, 7-7.5 towing.

I installed a full 3m PPF on the front. Does the job nicely.

Tow capacity on my coach is 15k lbs. I don’t even know it’s back there.

Thanks everyone for your input. Seems maybe a trailer is the way to go if I plan on adding more toys during camping trips. Sorry for the delayed response on here. I had an artificial disk put in my back right before Christmas and just getting around to responding.
