A bolt went in the valve cover from the fuel pump? How is that even possible fuel pump is in the fuel tank.....

Have it back tomorrow?!?

Next they might be telling him it is the flux-capacitor. Some of these service guys really make me wonder.

The high pressure fuel pump is located in the engine compartment, near the valve cover.

Interesting I need to take a look at the schematics online. I could see the fuel rail and direct fuel injection didn’t know additional fuel pump..

Edit: are you referring to the direct injection?

So it was the dealer mechanic and had nothing to do with ford quality control.

#GSteve ... I would make sure there was no collateral damage and please tell them to make sure all the bolts are torqued down this time.

#GSteve ... I would make sure there was no collateral damage and please tell them to make sure all the bolts are torqued down this time.
And they are paying for my rental

Sounds like the technician screwed up and dropped a bolt inside your valve cover.

Apparently they over did them and they all broke

I am a low mileage fanatic... Like 3K miles a year for a year or two.

We had a guy come in with a decked out hunting camo finished Ram Cummins to get his first set of wheels.

Truck had 250K miles on it and he was just getting started.

The same could be said for any engine going back decades. There will always be a few bad apples. 17,000 trucks a year equates to a few trucks going in for warranty work. There's already several guys who beat on their trucks that have racked up over 60k no issues. And if you look on youtube, there's a bunch of 1st gen ecoboosts over 200k without any work other than standard maintenance.

No, the same cannot be said for any engine going back decades. A Ford 5.0L Windsor would run 250,000 miles, no problem. Might leak some oil due to poor sealing design, but everything was solid. Mod motors were even better, and rarel;y leaked anything. In comparison, for the Ecobosot engines, Ford has a ongoing TSB program to replace timing components for free on Ecoboost engines because it's such a problem. Rationalize it all you want- it is not a very reliable engine when compared to other offerings from both Ford and competitor, both now and in the past. It makes power though- there is no disputing that.
