GEN 2 Torque Arm v. Traction Bars

Hi All,

I discovered Krazy House Customs produces a torque arm that solves a lot of the same issues as traction bars, but without sacrificing ground clearance and range of motion (supposedly). Plus adds a differential skid. Does anyone have experience with the KHC torque arm? Has anyone done a comparison of it to traction bars by either SVC or Rogue?

I ordered the SVC track bar kit, but now I'm second guessing my choice after reading about the KHC kit.

I have had Rogue Racing traction bars on my truck (supercharged Gen 1) for several years now and they absolutely work. I'm sure the SVC bars work well, too, but I don't like the loss of ground clearance.

With respect to the torque arm, I have seen the video Dave posted to Instagram and it appears to work really well. If I didn't already have trac bars that is probably the route I would go.

I watched the videos on KHC's website and the torque arm appears to work great. And with now loss of ground clearance. Torque arms have a following with Mustang and Camaro owners, but that's about all the info I could find. Aside from KHC, I haven't seen or heard of anyone running them on Raptors, would be nice to hear real world experiences.

not for nothing, I haven't dragged the traction bars lowest mounting point once.

outside of their shop raptor and/or the ken block truck, I probably have the most off road miles on mine.

I have had absolutely zero negative effects, save for wanting to do donuts on the street constantly.

KHC is in new jersey. SVC is in orange county. One thing that ive learned with modifying my truck: The folks that make the parts that are most familiar ( and frequent regularly) with the terrain that you drive are the ones you should defer to.

SVC has a pretty good track record racing 6100 class. I've been driven around Johnson valley (hammertown) in my truck, and a can am by SVC.

I've got the svc variant on my truck. I will not be taking them off.

I'd also refer to geometry and physics class to decipher what impact steeper angles and shorter arms have on the ability to control axle position and wrap.

I don't have anything against khc, Dave makes really nice stuff. but perhaps his design is best suited to what his customers are doing with their trucks, which is probably not heading into the desert. I know that SVC's customer base consists of a majority that are beating the hell out of their trucks in the desert, mercilessly, all over the southwest and mexico.

the large majority of the stuff that I havent broken on my truck are SVC parts. I have broken zero of their parts. I have broken lots of other vendors parts, and lots of Ford parts.

food for thought, I guess.

Your reviews are the #1 reason I ordered the SVC traction bars in the first place. I won't be wheeling hard enough to notice the lack of ground clearance, so I'll stick with the original plan. Thanks much for the additional info!

I see we have some people about the torque arm. Nice. And I do appreciate all the feedback from people. Just so everyone knows my truck and designs are tested all around the country and are originated from my experiences along with other products on the market. I may design them here on the eastcoast but they all have the true hard core off road use in mind like I always have. And i design most of the parts because I have found a weakness in a part or someone else has.

There are a few different people running this set up now but I havent really pushed it out to the public yet that much besides other people talking about it. I obviously run it on my truck and I love it. It works as I intented and all the runs I have been on so far it has made the difference I wanted. Street driving is fun also. The rear doesnt hop at all on hill climbs ect. no wheel hop at all.....

It is simply a new take on the traction bar concept placed above the axle that eliminates 90% of the twisting motion of the axle cause by torque that the springs allow. It has a 2 bolt mounting system at the axle end and a slide joint at the frame end. This set up allows for all factory travel with minimal bind as do others vendors like svc and rogue. I spent a ton of time designing this system in cad and running the models to make sure it works properly. Then testing it.

I am close with both these companies and they both make top notch products which we sell also. I even bounce ideas off them and talk about product development.

My design goal is to eliminate ground clearance issues associated with running traction bars along with eliminate axle wrap while not binding up the rear end travel. So far so good.

For me its all about bringing good quality parts to the market and customers having options. What works for one doesnt work for all. If people buy parts from any of us vendors like svc, rouge racing ect its a win in my book.

Dave - I like your design a lot. What is the install like? Can be done with hand tools in a driveway or more involved? Does the drive shaft have to be dropped? Let me know if you need some testers out west :p

Thanks!! install is pretty simple and can be done in the driveway. The axle brace just bolts on and the upper frame mount needs 4 holes drilled in the crossmember then gets bolted in- just need to fish the nut plates in through the side. Minor trimming of the abs line holder on the axle and bolt the new brake line bracket on the axle. Driveshaft stays in place.
