I have thought that ford forgot the brakes when it comes to the raptor. I feel they should have upgraded the brakes from the start. Bigger tires on a performance vehicle, should be standard.

Kind of limited by the 17" wheel size, but these new rotors and pads help quite a bit.

Maybe they thought that the 500lbs saved in body weight would justify keeping the old system?

Do you have a buddy with a Raptor or stock F150? Would be cool to see 1 panic stop between you two from say 40-50mph

I had the same rotors and pads installed this week and it is much better with initial bite and stopping distance.

... stopping distance.

Except this is wrong, BBKs don't materially change the distance under street driving

You see the benefits of BBKs with repeated brake events, racing, mountains + towing, etc but they are basically the same as stock if you're talking about your panic stop as a kid runs in front of you

Gotta say Fred- you are wrong on this. A stock Raptor brake setup cannot lock up front the tires at any decent speed. If it can't lock em up, there's gains to be had. Bigger brakes will stop it quicker. We aren't talking about a car with light wheels and 26" tires that can lock up the front tires at 60 MPH.

Now, slotted/drilled rotors are another story. Those who believe in them, BELIEVE in them and nothing will change their mind. Everyone else wants the maximum amount of surface area and cast iron possible in their rotors.

Do you have a Raptor? Mine locked stock just fine. Not to mention almost all modern "decent" cars can lock brakes - if not, ABS would be moot.

Honestly, I've never tried to lock up the tires on my Raptor at highway speeds, but I really doubt the stock brakes will lock the front tires at say 75 MPH. I know my older F150 wasn't even close to having enough braking power to lock up 33" tires at highway speeds. These brakes aren't much bigger and the tires are a whole lot heavier. If they can, I stand corrected.

Just because it has ABS doesn't mean it can lock up the front tires at high speeds on a high traction surface. There are plenty of low traction situations where ABS still functions fine, and it still will kick in for the rears a lot of times.

Baja Fred is wrong. It is not a big break kit and it does stop shorter with less drama.
