Tires with a larger void space between the lug blocks like a mud terrain style will throw less gravel. Of course, the rocks they do throw are huge so be ready for that. Also, for about $350 you can have the clear bra stuff put on your rockers all the way down the truck. That might be an option for you. I hate mudflaps too so I'll take my chances with the rocks.

Oh man, I am missing HUGE chunks in my tires from the recent Reno trips...I'm doing something right...lol

I should have taken pics of my drivers side rear tire before I decided to rotate in the spare. I have massive chunks out of it, some all the way down to cord. It's bad. Thankfully a new set of tires is in my future next month.

I just recently installed just the fronts and if you don't like the look like me then this might be your best/cheapest alternative. I wanna wear my tires before ditching what I paid for. After adding these I noticed when rocks did hit my running boards, sounded more towards the rear of the boards though. I can also hear the debris of the rocks flying up hitting the flaps instead, especially when I'm in a high speed run through the rocks and turning. As for mud, I could now get in/out my truck without tons of mud on the boards. Enough to not bring it into the truck while stepping up. Here's a picture of how she sits now......

SwampKing, what brand flaps are you using? Did you modify them to hang so low or did they come like that?

Thanks for all the responses guys...great forum you have here.

They came like this short. If you even wanna go shorter, you can trim via a pre designed line. Go to pep boys and look for the pro-fit I believe. Get the #8 style flaps. BIRDMAN did a write up with the same brand but his are the #7 style flaps which are the longer of the two.
In the package with the mud flaps, you will see theres a templet which you can put up to the liner and do the fold trick and then cut along the folded lines to get your exact lay out to trimming your flaps. I then used some binder clips to hold the flaps on in the desired position snugged up for a better fit. I Used 3-4 clips and they held strong enough to drill a pilot hole and use the supplied screws ONE HANDED without any issues. I used the supplied hardware. Some opt for SS screws but in my opinion they stick out like a sore thumb , and the screws are more than likely painted galvanized. I'm sure the manufacturers won't just send crap hardware on an item that they know will be in wet applications.
Here's how I mounted mine.....

The way I have them mounted, I can remove and insert the plastic push style screws and it's back stock looking without any holes. The holes I drilled then screwed the flaps, I matched with the stock fender liner plastic screws. If I decide to take off at a later date, still look OEM.
