New S-CREW raptor 520 miles, rear tires have chunks out of the tread rubber. on mostly flat trail for less than 30 miles. is this what to expect or defective tires? fronts seem fine.

Should i ask the dealer to replace them? or is this what a little dirt does to them? i notice the bed bounces around a bit, twists and so on.

only other issue is at highway speeds the suspension has a nasty bumpy ride not like a shake more like an jarring oscillation. this happens when the road has those slight bumps, any ideas?

Thanks,
Brett

The tire chunking is normal. It's from spinning your tires while off road, it doesnt take a lot to chunk your tires.
Got nothing in regard to your ride quality, as I havent noticed that with mine.

Congrats on your new ride. Glad to hear you are already having fun offroad - it's what these trucks were built for! Pavement drag queens are sad depressed Raptors lol. The BFG's do chunk out readily and because it occurs offroad good luck trying to replace under warranty. Destroyed new rears at TRR. Still ride smooth though. There are other nice tire options out there that I am exploring. Recommend mend it before you bend it RPG frame kit with National springs to resolve the suspension issues. Check out these respective info threads on the forum.

Gads I must be tired. I read the thread title as "Trees falling apart" and thought to myself "only when I am around."

BOT: I would take them down to a tire shop and see what they think. If they are indeed falling apart, Ford will warranty them. If they are chunked up from abusing the crap out of them (it doesn't take much..half hour doing donuts, drifting ect will do the job) get a better tire.

There was a lot of chatter about these tires compared to others several months back and if I'm not mistaken, the factory tires are a softer compound anyways. I've seen little chunks coming out of mine and just expected it when ******** around off-road.

Removing the front sway bar fixed that for me on my 2012.
My 2010 I just beat it into submission and didn't notice the bumps after a while.

And yeah, the tires are soft compound and wear fast on pavement or dirt.

Yeah, it's normal for the BFG's to chunk like that, mine are doing it something horrible, but I know it's from off road shenanigans so not much to do about that besides replace em.

As for your rough ride, it doesn't happen all the time, just over small bumps in the highway? I have to ask, did you give your truck a nice thorough "post-flight inspection" after you played with it off-road? I always go around and check tires, suspension components and generally the undercarriage for leaks and damage.

I hope he doesn't hate me for doing it, but the guy to hit up in our area would definitely be SOCOMech. He's a pretty damn good gear head and might have some answers. I'll be home this week if you want to meet up and compare your ride to mine to see if anything really is out of whack.
