Hey all,

My stock BFG are almost done at 24k miles.
Ive been reading up on the toyo r/t, ridge grapplers, dune version among others.

Most of my driving is road with some dunes. Some snow and inclement weather at times.
Ive noticed that most of those tires are speed rated Q, upto 99 mph, and while i dont drive around that speed, i find it quiet low, i understand they are off roading tires, Have you guys found anything better?

I have had 6 or 8 sets of BFG's in my lifetime of trucks and have gotten at least 50,000 miles out each set.

keep in mind, the speed rating is sustained speed.

Call me an old man, but I've never come across a good reason to do more than 99mph on a public roadway in a pickup truck with 37" tires. I wouldn't worry so much about it unless you Just HAVE to travel at over 100MPH for longer than 15 mins.

Not at all, im the same way, never sustained over 99 either. I was just thinking about an added cushion of comfort with a higher rating.

The only one i can find is the nitto dune grappler but the tread looks pretty lame

Maybe I'm a lead foot but my last pair of Grapplers were so hard you HAD to run in AWD even in rain to move around. One came from factory unable to be balanced (out of round) and very, very hard tires--long mileage--low traction on pavement. However, they look awesome no doubt.

I've had good luck with Trail Grapplers. I ran them on my 2011 and 2014 FX4s. They balanced up good, were good in rain and snow. But they were only speed rated for 99 mph.

I just swapped mine at 24k as well. When the back tires were bald, I swapped them to the front, then burned those off. 24k wasn’t good. Went with 35-12.50’s ridge grapplers on the stock rims. The truck looks way more aggressive than before. Can’t tell a difference on noise or feel. I really like them. Dune grapplers look good on low profile setups like on a suv with big rims or something, but if there is allot sidewall, they look kinda silly to me. I’ve had great luck with nittos in the past, but I drive this truck way harder than any other truck I’ve had so who knows how they will hold up...
