How are people getting such long life out of their stock BFG's? I just turned 10k. They have been rotated and balanced three times (!!!! I'm **** like that) and I have pitting and chunking everywhere. I do play offroad, but this seems a little ridiculous.

It may be time to go show Ford.

I heard something about a bad batch of bfgs but don't think it was ever confirmed

How about spraying that rubber stuff on the wheels to reduce the noise

You could probably do that, but for me it starts to turn into more work than its worth when the clip on ones are working fine.

These are the ones I used. Heaviest weight per ball I could find at the store.

Shit it was enough work getting all those damn balls in there. You can't use lube to mount the tire, or if you do you have to be very careful with it. If any lube or contaminant gets inside the tire the balls will clump together. The generals are so stiff to seat the bead you really need to lube them up. Getting them back out was even more fun, they fell out and ran everywhere. Even though I did my best to sweep them up, I still find them by the tire machine at work lol.

I've just got good ol' fashion stick on weights on the inside of my Method's.........28k mi. (I've had them on since 1k mi.) and they're just as good as the day they were put on. Oh and BFG's are awesome, mine will last another 8k and that's pretty darn awesome considering my off-roading.

For a "street queen" stick on weights are fine. Running through mud/muck, they are prone to "fall off"

shouldn't make any difference what you drive through unless it's puddles of rubbing alcohol or something that dissolves adhesive. Mud and rock certainly don't. And I can't see rocks beating up the INNER hoop of the rims no matter how hard core of offroading you're doing.

As for those metal BB's, don't you hear them spinning in the tire or hitting the rim when you come to quick stops?

It is not specifically the mud that causes the stick on weights to fall off. It is the combination of clay (mud) being stuck inside the wheel, washing with high pressure carwash. That loosens the interface between weights and tape, causing mud and other crap to collect. After several times the weights will fall off, leaving the tape behind.

^What he said...
And, the hot/cold fluctuations from summer to winter break down adhesives too.
