It’s not the same as the G2 issue. This is definitely an exhaust valve issue. G2 start up rattle was typically cam phasers and or waste gate rattle. This is a totally different sound.

My GT350 has an exhaust rattle with its active exhaust if the temperature is below 50 degrees. Goes away if I open the valves or the exhaust heats up.

My wife's ecoboost explorer also have a slight rattle upon startup. Goes away pretty quickly.

Random find though, her car had another ticking sound upon starutp about a month ago, turns out it was belt slack front the tensioner failing. I'm sure with as few miles as you have, that probably isn't the case, but its another option.

Any update on this? I didn’t notice this tick when we were at the dealer looking everything over. However 100 miles latter the tick is pretty loud on cold start. I’d definitely say that it’s in the exhaust after crawling under the truck. The sound does go away after a minute or two or after a few revs….

My truck goes in to have the muffler replaced on Tuesday. It took two trips to the first dealer and three trips to the second dealership for anyone to admit to hearing anything unusual and finally ordering a muffler. Took almost a month for the muffler to come in. I'll update when it's done and hopefully have a better sounding truck.

The cold start ticking (Gen 3) may be a small exhaust leak from around the clamp on the horizontal pipe up near the front of the truck.

I discovered this on mine when I saw a few drops of water (condensation) on the garage floor after a cold start one day. The clamp is plenty tight and it seals up when hot. Has a definite ticking sound until it warms up.

I’m not overly concerned about it at this time, but will be keeping an eye on it.
