I'm starting to fill the back of the cab of my Scab full of random tools (straps, jumper cables, axe, etc). I've started chewing on putting a tool box in the bed, but I hate attached truck toolboxes since they eat up so much bed space. I'd considered getting some form of job box and setting in the bed, strapped and locked down, thinking this would be easier to remove when I need the extra bed space. Does anyone have any experience doing this? And does anyone have a recommendation for a good box? I'm pretty dogmatic about US made equipment too.

Thanks!

I use them everyday at work. We put them through absolute hell and they hold up. I prefer knack. The jobmaster chest model 36 is what we run on our trucks and use the model 112 as our tool boxes in the shops.

Get a good UWS tool box that goes in the bed and create a simple bedcage using the bed bolts to anchor it in. it will not only be secure and lockable, but you cant remove it unless you take the entire thing out.

toolbox over job box because Job boxes are crazy heavy, thick walled and made to be in the bed of a construction truck or on the job site where theyre chained up. you need a torch or extremly heavy duty saw to get into them... you dont need that kind of security or weight to be lugging around.

Yeah that's a good call. I see that UWS makes essentially the same thing as a job box but more tailored for trucks. I did notice (here 30" Standard Chest-BLK | UWS Truck Accessories US ) that they state it isnt designed for use in a truck, then in the next statement say it is! I probably should just get a normal box off craigslist. I dont see that removing one of those would be any more difficult as a job box type once it is adequately secured.... bah...

Check ou the undercover swing case mounts on the side of the bed behind the wheel and swings out for access you can put one on either side and takes up minimal space
