I have a RAV (buyback). Love it. It was an early cam phaser problem. First owner had it in the shop for extended periods waiting on parts. Also the shop tried to repair only 2 of the phasers on the first go around and it was back at the shop again soon after that. So the Florida owner triggered the lemon law.
I had the phasers replaced recently with the new versions of the parts and I am very happy. Great truck, I saved around $10k and I am not too worried about driving a ticking time bomb because I know the phasers are newest parts.
A lot of guys on here are afraid for anyone to repair their truck - that’s a shame and it sucks they don’t trust their shop(s) or maybe got burned in the past.
Just be sure to get a copy of the Oasis report if you go the RAV route. It can shed light on the history of the truck. A little due diligence can Help you make a good decision and be happy with the truck.
