I have to say despite the price of gas currently, and even if it goes higher in the future I am and always will be against this. ANWR is just that...relatively unspoiled wildlife REFUGE, where wildlife can survive/flourish without interference from Man. And I'm willing to pay more for a tank of gas to keep it that way for YOUR kids, grandkids, and all of their kids (I have none of either). And the keystone pipeline is a bad idea as well, it will cross more than 2,000 waterways, including the Yellowstone River in Montana, threatening rivers, lakes and streams with the same kind of pipeline accidents that have occurred elsewhere.

Unless/until the pipeline companies can 100% guarantee that not a drop of oil will spill ANWR should remain free from drilling/piping oil. Even the TA pipeline has had its' share of accidents:
"The size of (the most recent) spill, roughly 5,000 barrels (at 55 gallons/barrel) from the pipeline is topped only by two other accidents on the pipeline:
• In 1978, sabotage at Steele Creek caused about 670,000 gallons - 16,000 barrels - to leak.
• In 2001, a Livengood man shot the pipeline with a high-caliber rifle, causing 258,000 gallons - 6,143 barrels - to spew from the line before Alyeska could secure a clamp over the hole."

The risk is not outweighed by the benefit.
So we’re much better off having supertankers for 2 million barrels of oil comings from all over the globe to fuel us And pay for their geopolitical unstability of the regions we pull from rather and pay for their geopolitical instability in the regions we pull from rather than pulling our own oil out of the ground… Your risk assessments are political talking points.

I have a different opinion.
First, ANWR is the very definition of interference from man, and singularly the worst representation of man; government.

Drilling is not what posters of oil wells and spills picture, it’s far, far different from the perceptions in political pamphlets. There are entire industry subsets making their living out of ensuring spills don’t happen. Of course they’re not 100% successful, they’re human, but if it were anywhere near as bad as even the most conservative literature on most enviro-activist literature, you’d be awash in polluted products, food and water. You’re not.

Drilling can be done while minimally impacting wildlife.
And I'm willing to pay more for a tank of gas to keep it that way for YOUR kids, grandkids, and all of their kids (I have none of either).
See, really this is a lie. Because my family wants the opposite and even if we did want what you do, who are you to appoint yourself our spokesperson? You’re advocating this for YOU and ONLY YOU, and attempting to wrap yourself in the mantle of selflessness to give legitimacy to your assertion(s).

And the keystone pipeline is a bad idea as well, it will cross more than 2,000 waterways, including the Yellowstone River in Montana, threatening rivers, lakes and streams with the same kind of pipeline accidents that have occurred elsewhere.
Perhaps. Perhaps it’s a less bad option than all or most of the others. Perhaps it’s somewhere in the middle. Regardless, the deliberate abandonment of sources of domestic fuel puts our country, way of life -including fuel prices at risk by forcing us to deal with regimes who don’t give a $H!T about the environment. Think OPEC and who are members of OPEC.

Unless/until the pipeline companies can 100% guarantee that not a drop of oil will spill ANWR should remain free from drilling/piping oil.
And I would counter that until we are 100% free of imported oil, we need more drilling ANWR.

The price of oil is 80% speculation and the other 20% is demand.

It’s 75% controlled by performance of the guy in the White House. Shut down new leasing and problems in global hotspots?? To the moon
This is correct.

Breaking news: Rich liberals ask you to sacrifice more for their bad policy and incompetence.
The folks I know in the tree-hugging crowd all drive big vehicles. They aren't willing to sacrifice unless everyone joins them. If they cared, they would walk because the embedded energy cost of a bicycle is so high. And if they truly cared, they would not have had children*. The impact of more people making more people down the generations dwarfs any other by orders of magnitude. And yes, they are all very well off and they don't give a flying fu*k about poor or middle class people. A bunch of selfish, sanctimonious a--holes wrapping themselves in the illusion that they are "caring". I'm not caring. Not caring one bit about what they think.

*To be fair, about half of them are childless. But that's because they are selfish a--holes, not because they care about the environment.

Natural occurring oil seeps release thousands of barrels per day.
Oil seeps offshore Santa Barbara release 400 to 1,000 barrels per day.
Earthquake’s and volcanic eruptions release more crude oil and methane than we can even imagine !

Just paid $4.99 a gallon in IL. Last time I did that it was 2008, worked at Olive Garden, and could only afford a gallon at a time to get to work and back (I know I’m young as shell).

Only hope is that Trump or someone like him with some sense and presence will one day return, although I won’t hold my breath.

I was planning on a Rivian after the Raptor is paid off as I see the writing on the wall, but I see that those have now doubled in price to $100k area.
